OnlyFans payment methods: why your card is declined and what you pay

OnlyFans charges in US dollars to a card saved on your account, adds sales tax where it applies, and renews subscriptions automatically. Most declined payments are blocked by the card’s bank, and a call or a tap in your banking app usually fixes them.
How paying on OnlyFans works
Before you can subscribe or buy anything, OnlyFans’s terms say you must add payment information to your account. It is passed to a third-party payment provider, which takes the money: as a repeating payment for subscriptions, and straight away for everything else, such as tips and pay-per-view posts and messages.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the current price, plus tax, until you switch off auto-renew on the creator’s page. You won’t necessarily get a reminder first. Cancelling an OnlyFans subscription has the steps.
- Pay-per-view posts and messages, tips and other purchases are charged once, when you buy. What PPV means on OnlyFans explains locked content.
- Free pages don’t charge to subscribe, but OnlyFans may still ask for a card before you can follow one, since the same terms cover every creator interaction.
Creators set their own prices; OnlyFans takes its fee from what you pay rather than adding it on top.
What you’ll actually be charged
Prices are in US dollars, and tax comes on top. OnlyFans’s terms say all prices appear and are charged in USD, that payment providers may charge currency conversion fees, and that indirect sales tax, such as VAT or US sales tax, is added at the current rate. The total at checkout can therefore be higher than the price on the creator’s page, and your statement can differ again if your card is in another currency.
To avoid a conversion surprise, check your card’s foreign transaction fee, or use a card held in US dollars if you have one. The rate and fee are your bank’s, not OnlyFans’s.
Which payment methods OnlyFans takes
OnlyFans’s terms speak only of payment information saved on your account and of your payment card provider, so a debit or credit card is what to expect. They don’t mention PayPal, bank transfers, crypto, gift cards or billing through Apple or Google, and OnlyFans doesn’t publish a list of accepted card brands. The card form on the site is the up-to-date answer to whether yours is accepted.
- Wallet credits. You can load money onto your account in advance and spend it later. A purchase can’t be split, so if it costs more than your remaining credits, your card is charged the full amount. Credits have a maximum, earn no interest, and unused credits aren’t refunded.
- More than one card. If you save several, OnlyFans uses the next one when a payment on the first fails. That keeps renewals going, but it also means removing one card doesn’t stop payments while another is saved.
- Prepaid and virtual cards work only if their issuer allows online, foreign-currency and adult-site payments. Many restrict at least one of those, so check before relying on one.
Be wary of anyone selling OnlyFans “gift cards”, balance codes or cheap subscriptions paid some other way. The terms describe no such option, so treat these offers as likely scams. OnlyFans scams covers them.
Why your card is declined on OnlyFans
Most declines come from your bank, not OnlyFans. The payment is in US dollars, often processed outside your country, by a merchant some banks treat as adult or high-risk, which is the combination fraud filters stop most often. Work through these:
- Approve the security check. Many banks ask you to confirm online payments in their app or by a one-time code. If the prompt timed out or went unanswered, the payment fails. Try again with your banking app open.
- Allow online and international payments. Some cards ship with these switched off, or block them by default for new cards. Banking apps often have a switch for each.
- Check the amount. The charge is the price plus tax and any conversion fee, so a balance or limit just above the price can still fall short.
- Check the card details. The name, billing address and postcode should match what your bank holds, and the card shouldn’t be expired or frozen.
- Ask your bank. If it still fails, the bank can see why it declined the payment, and may lift a block on the merchant if you ask. Some banks block adult sites by policy and won’t change it; then a different card is the only fix.
Retrying the same card again and again can make a fraud filter more suspicious, not less, so after a couple of failures find the cause before trying again. If the card is accepted but a purchase still fails on the site, OnlyFans support is the next step. Never send money to a creator, “agent” or “support” contact some other way because a payment didn’t go through.
Failed renewals
A subscription renewal that fails isn’t retried forever. The terms say OnlyFans moves on to another saved payment method if you have one, and that the subscription stops renewing when your payment is declined and no other method works. You keep access until the end of the period already paid for. To come back, add a working card and subscribe again, at whatever price the creator charges then.
Disputes, chargebacks and refunds
Contact OnlyFans support about a charge before going to your bank. The terms ask fans not to make unjustified refund requests or chargebacks with their card provider, and say an account can be suspended or deleted if a request was made in bad faith. A genuine problem, such as a charge you never made or content you paid for that never arrived, is a different matter: report it, and if the charge isn’t yours at all, change your password and turn on two-step verification too, because someone else may be using your login. What the terms say about refunds goes through the rest.
What shows on your bank statement
The charge is usually labelled with OnlyFans’s own name, not a creator’s, and we found no discreet billing option. OnlyFans privacy for fans lists the descriptors fans report and what creators can see about you.
Comparing prices before you pay is the easiest saving. TastyFans lists each creator’s current price, past prices and sales, and paying less for OnlyFans covers free trials, bundles and cheaper pages.
Questions
What currency does OnlyFans charge in?
US dollars. OnlyFans’s terms say all prices appear and are charged in USD, and that payment providers may charge currency conversion fees. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign transaction fee.
Does OnlyFans add tax to the price?
Yes, where tax applies. The terms say fan payments don’t include indirect sales tax, such as VAT or sales tax, which is added at the current rate. So a $9.99 subscription can cost more than $9.99 at checkout, depending on where you live.
Can I pay for OnlyFans with PayPal?
OnlyFans’s terms only describe payment information you add to your account, processed by a third-party payment provider, and chargebacks with your payment card provider. They don’t mention PayPal, bank transfers or app-store billing, so plan on paying by card.
Why does OnlyFans keep declining my card?
Usually because your bank blocked the payment, not because of OnlyFans. Common causes are a block on foreign or US-dollar payments, a card that isn’t enabled for online use, a security check you didn’t approve in your banking app, card details that don’t match what your bank holds, or not enough money once tax and conversion are added. Your bank can tell you which it was.
What are OnlyFans wallet credits?
Money you load onto your OnlyFans account in advance and spend later. A purchase can’t be split: if it costs more than your remaining credits, your card is charged the full amount instead. Credits have a maximum, earn no interest and aren’t refundable, so only load what you expect to spend.
What happens if my OnlyFans renewal payment fails?
If you’ve saved more than one payment method, OnlyFans tries the next one. If no saved method works, the terms say the subscription doesn’t renew, and you lose access to that creator’s subscriber content when the paid period ends.
